What’s old is new again: Linda Hamilton rejoins Terminator franchise
James Cameron wasn’t kidding about doing his best to fix the Terminator franchise upon regaining the rights in 2019, it seems. Not that many people remembers, but post-Judgement Day we have been plagued with 3 sequels, all of them competing to be even worse than the one before.
After announcing Tim Miller, director of Deadpool, would helm the latest installment – script overseen by Cameron himself – now comes news Linda Hamilton will return as Sarah Connor. We admit to having been somewhat hesitant about another sequel, but can’t deny being quite enthusiastic about this news. Not in the least after seeing Emilia Clarke’s interpretation of Sarah Connor in Terminator: Genesis. Genysys? Genasis? Whatever it was called.
Cameron said the following about the casting:
As meaningful as she was to gender and action stars everywhere back then, it’s going to make a huge statement to have that seasoned warrior that she’s become return. There are 50-year-old, 60-year-old guys out there killing bad guys. But there isn’t an example of that for women.
Fair point, although we do hope Hamilton does better in her return to the role than, let’s say, Bruce Willis who can only muster up a smirk.
Oh yeah, Arnold is back as well. We’re fine with that.
