Retrospective: The Brain Jar’s favorite posts of 2018
Since it feels like this is the first year where we were actually bothered with our blog, we decided to create an overview of our favorite posts. In no specific order, here are some of the posts we were most excited about, and the reasoning as to why:
- Stories directly taken from our lives: audience interaction gone wrong, my interview at Zalando, what is an MRI scan like. Although The Brain Jar offers a mix of different types of posts, we get the most enjoyment using it as our diary. Whether this means retelling the story of our night with a Swedish magician, bungling an interview at Zalando, or crying inside of an MRI machine. We hope you’ve enjoyed these as well.
- The misinformed movie fan: the similarities between Tully and Sully & why Buster’s Mal Heart is a terrible Arrested Development spin-off. We like to get absurd from time to time, and for some reason though it would be annoying to write from the perspective of a misinformed movie fan. We enjoyed it, but you barely read these posts. So that hurt.
- Our travel posts: such as how to buy alcohol in Marrakech, how to buy alcohol in Agadir, how to survive long haul flights, how to get from Arlanda airport to Stockholm city centre. In the past we’ve neglected our travel/guide section of this site. We made up for that this year, by offering you tips around the different places we traveled to.
- Whatever happened to: whatever happened to Bridget Fonda, whatever happened to Tom Hulce, whatever happened to Rick Moranis. We were thrilled to see this series take off, and will continue to update you on the whereabouts of big stars who disappeared. Except more of this from 2019. At this rate it even seems like we might have to rewrite our piece on the bad decisions of T.J. Miller.
- Our review of Hell comes to Frogtown: A reminder that when we started this blog, it was only meant to hosts reviews.
- Informational movie posts, such as Fox franchises now owned by Disney and the problem with film aspect ratio on Netflix. It’s nice to see articles such as these take off in terms of readership. We’re happy to find out other people care about the trivial things we care about.
